Week beginning 30th November
This week Christmas has started in the classroom. A sack of story books arrived so the children can hear a different story for each day of advent that they are at school. The children are practising the Nativity play songs and they will be recorded ready for the whole performance to go onto the website on Friday 11th December.
Outside, amongst other things the children have been planting bulbs so they can learn about the life cycle of plants. Some have been planted in plant pots and some in the large tubs so hopefully in Spring the garden will have lots of tulips and daffodils around.
Week Beginning 23rd November
This week we have been learning about the story of Cinderella. The children have enjoyed participating in various activities associated with the story such as making a shoe, writing invitations, role play, making puppets and crowns. However, the highlight of the week was the Ball. Thank you for sending the children into school in their party clothes, that had been adapted to keep them warm too.
The Ball started with the children being introduced as they came into the ball. After, doing a bow or curtsy, to their partner the children danced together. We then played some games and had refreshments, before ending the Ball with more dancing. It was great to see the children enjoying the experience.
We have had another busy week, we made Diya lamps and dressed in traditional costumes to celebrate Diwali. Made and painted poppies to remember those who died in the war and wore mufti clothes, made Pudsey bear collages and turned clothes spotty for children in need.
Our outdoor learning this week was all about hedgehogs, we made homes for them from sticks and leaves and made our own little hedgehogs from clay and twigs!
Week beginning 2nd November 2020
Thia week has been super busy! We started the week learning about fireworks, we found out Fireman Sam’s top tips for firework safety, made some amazing firework art and rockets and wrote firework words. We have loved playing with Fireman Sam in our small world and using our imaginations to role play being firefighters.
This week was bright futures week in school, where we found out all about different jobs we could do when we grow up. Lots of us want to be fire fighters, vets and doctors.
To finish off our week we had our outdoor learning afternoon on Friday, we visited the oak tree that we looked at before half term and noticed that it had a lot less leaves on it than then. We collected sticks and used the to make 2d shapes like triangles, diamonds, circles and squares. We love being outdoors.
