Welcome Back! This term we are going to we learning all about the Victorians and thinking about how life has changed since the Victorian times! On Tuesday 5th March there will be a Victorian School Day, children can dress up and experience a day in the life of a Victorian school child.
Today the date was 5th March 1845, it was Victorian day! The children loved dressing up as Victorians and experiencing what it was like for children back then. Thank you for helping with outfits at home! We learnt that teachers used to be very strict at school and used to use a cane to punish children for misbehaving, they also would wear dunce hat which some of us tried on. We also learnt the National Anthem because Queen Victoria was very important, we did drill outside to keep fit and we did lots of handwriting practice on slate boards. It was a brilliant learning experience.....although I think we will be glad to be back in 2019 tomorrow :)
We have loved learning all about poetry this week! We have been reading 'Please Mrs Butler' by Allan Ahlberg. It was really funny and enjoyable to read but what we enjoyed the most was getting to learn and perform it to the other class, we made up actions too!
Together, we grow our love for learning.
