Key Stage 1 Transition
On Tuesday 16th July, we had a very successful transition morning in which the Year R & 1 children spent an hour with their new teachers. Thank you to those of you who were able to come to our transition meeting. We hope it was useful to find out who the teachers are across Key Stage 1 and to understand more about our transition process here at Farnborough Grange.
For those of you who were unable to attend the meeting, please see below the Power Point presentation used, along with the transition booklets. These booklets are still available from your child's current class teacher if you would like a hard copy.
On Thursday 11th July, the children had a wonderful time taking part in different sporting activities. Some of these included sack races, bean bag races and practising bat & ball skills. We finished off the end of the afternoon with some running races which all children took part in enthusiastically. We were proud of every child for taking part and doing their best.
Summer Reading Challenge
On Wednesday 10th July, we had two visitors from Farnborough Library who came to tell us about the summer reading challenge. This year, the theme is a Space Chase and we have to find out where the aliens are hiding! If we visit Farnborough Library and read six different books over the school holidays, we will earn a certificate, medal and complete the chase! We look forward to seeing all of the certificates and medals in September.
The NED Show
On Friday 5th July, we were very excited to welcome NED to Farnborough Grange. NED's Mindset Mission is a positive behaviour assembly, which contains storytelling, illusions, yo-yo tricks and humour. This is so important for our children to develop their resilience and to set aspirational goals to help them to become the best that they can be. Please note that the NED yo-yos will be on sale from Monday 8th-Friday 12th July from under the canopy outside the school office.
The Jungle Book
On Tuesday 2nd July, we were very fortunate to experience a live pantomime performance of 'The Jungle Book' here at Farnborough Grange. The children were able to sing along to all the classic songs whilst seeing the story brought to life with super costumes and lighting. Following the performance, the Year 2 children had a workshop, which enabled them to go behind the scenes. The children were very enthusiastic to learn about complex aspects of theatre productions such as costumes changes, lighting and sound effects.
