This half term we will be welcoming the children into school and spending time getting to know each other, making new friends and learning school routines. We will be finding out what makes us special by sharing a 'Chatterbox' with our peers. Later this half term we will be getting outside and finding out what happens in Autumn and how bread is made.
To support our children's learning at home we have attached a copy of the Little Red Hen for you to share together and a list of key vocabulary that the children need to know in order to access their learning.
Highlight of the week
w.b. 9th September 2019
Our highlight this week, has been how well the children have settled into school. We are very proud of them and their growing independence and would love to see lots of them coming into the classroom on their own next week. Well done Bats and Badgers!
w.b. 16th September
Our highlight this week had been making our class collages which are displayed in the corridor for everyone to see.
w.b. 23rd September
Our highlight this week has been visiting the school library for the first time. We are very proud of our school library and hope to instill a love of reading in our children and their families. Each child got to chose and take home a library book to share at home and these will be changed weekly. The children also get to scan out their own books, which is lots of fun, and shows the children the how technology can be used in another setting. We hope you all enjoy your library books!
w.b. 30th September
This week we have been learning the story of 'The Little Red Hen'. Our highlight of the week was on Monday when a loaf of bread was delivered to school for us all to try! It was delicious!
w.b. 7th October
As part of our learning enquiry, 'where does bread come from?', this week our highlight has been tasting breads from around the world. We tried brioche, naan, bagels, fruit loaf and flatbreads. We enjoyed exploring the different tastes and textures.
w.b. 14th October
To start our learning enquiry, 'What happens in Autumn?', we went on an Autumn walk on Monday. We all put on our coats and wellies and went looking for signs of Autumn. As we walked we saw lots of different colours, berries and mushrooms. In class we then made a collage of our Autumn finds.
