World Book Day 2020

World Book Day 2020

This year, our theme for World Book Day was 'Bedtime Stories'. We loved wearing our pyjamas, ready to listen to our favourite stories! We immersed ourselves in story themed activities from start to finish, enjoying a few story swaps throughout the day!

Each year group focused on different stories for the day & all learning was based around these texts. Visit the class pages to see exactly what they got up to!

Yr R used stick puppets to retell the story!
Yr 1 made chocolate bones & cotton bud skeletons!
Hedgehogs wrote persuasive letters to our pencils!
Squirrels made wanted posters to help find Mowgli!

We really enjoy taking part in story swaps. These are important to give our children an element of choice over what they read, developing interests in different story genres and promoting a love of reading!

World Book Day was a great opportunity to show that adults love to read too! We were very happy to welcome Dianne & Wendy from the Church of the Good Shepherd, who read 'I am special' by Max Lucado to all of the children. What a lovely message to share through a book!

Thank you to those of you who joined us for our end-of-day story time. We hope you enjoyed the stories as much as we did!

Together, we grow our love for learning.
